Romy Takiyama, a 16 year old student visiting Japan on a school trip, with teachers and his whole class. Of Japanese heritage, his grandparents migrated to the US after WWII, and this was his first time in Japan

"So.. what's good here, Romy?" Tommy asked, sitting in the back row of the bus

"I told you, Tommy. Although my grandparents came from Japan, I've never been here before. This is my first time here too" Romy said

"Come on, Romy. You should know the lingo here. Ni Hao!" Tommy laughed
"That's Chinese, asshole" Romy answered

"Chinese, Japanese, it's all ching chong to me" Tommy lughed

"None of that racist language, Tommy. You too Romy" Mr Morrison yelled from the front of the bus

"Yes, sir" Tommy saluted

"But I didn't..." Romy said

"I don't care who started it, Romy. Just enjoy the trip and no more racist language" Mr Morrison said

Romy felt wronged, but he was seated next to Jennifer, he didn't react. Jennifer was the prettiest girl in class and he had a crush on her for years.

They weren't dating, but Romy hoped to make a move on this trip. She was friendly enough, and he enjoyed sitting with her

On the trip, there was also Tommy. Tommy was Romy's school bully when he first joined the school, due to his mixed looks and feminine features. But once Romy joined the school football team, Tommy was a reliable teammate, although he was a jock and quite often a loudmouth. Nevertheless, Romy tolerated him as a friend

They arrived in their small hotel and they entered their room, as Romy dumped his backpack on the bed

Anton plonked himself one of the only two beds. "I call dibs on this one. Who is getting the couch?" he asked

Romy caught a pillow that Larry threw to him. "You get the couch this time. I'll take the next one" he said

"Ok boys, just drop off your bags. We're leaving now" Mr Morrison called

They had stopped at a quiet seaside town

The students started walking around, shopping in the shops

There were many souvenir ships selling trinkets

Romy had bought Jennifer a seashell bracelet, hoping to impress her

Romy was the last person to arrive at their pre arranged meeting place for lunch

Jennifer was lready seated at another table

He sat down at another table with his classmates.

Later that evening, everyone gathered in a small lounge in the hotel and were playing truth or dare. Jennifer was there, but everyone was just telling the truth, as they revealed their boring truths

Tommy was there too, but it was boring

Romy decided to join too. "Ok guys, I'll do a dare" he said

"Oh good. Someone fun" Jennifer said. Romy was pleased hearing that

"Ok the dare. You must eat this whole thing down" Tommy said, taking out a murky jar with a black disgusting object

"What the hell is that? I won't die, would I?" Romy asked

"How would I know? I bought it in a souvenir shop. The old woman drew a fish woman or something on a piece of paper" Tommy laughed

"Swallow it! Swallow it" Jennifer said, unrelentingly

Goaded on, Romy just out it in his mouth and swallowed it

Suddenly, Romy stood up, looking ill, holding his stomach as it rumbled

"Oh shit" he said and started running to the toilet
.jpeg)
He left the room in a hurry, looking for the toilet
.jpeg)
"Haw haw haw! Tommy laughed. Nobody forced him to eat it" he said

In the meantime, Romy barely made it as he shit and vomitted everything out of him, looking ill

An hour later, Anton was worried and went to look for Romy. "Romy! Are you ok buddy?" he asked and opened the unlocked toilet door

He saw Romy unconscious on the toilet floor, covered in vomit and diarrhea

"Call Mr Morrison! Call for help! He's unconscious!" Larry yelled

"Haw haw haw. He shat himself" Tommy laughed and pointed

"We should call the ambulance, don't you think?" Jennifer asked

Romy was taken to the hospital and got his stomach pumped

He spent the following 3 days in the hospital before being discharged. He missed the two days of visiting shrines and temples in Osaka, spending it all in the hospital

The bus waited for him at the hospital. Mr Morrison was there and guided Romy to the back of the bus. "No more exotic foods for you" he said. Romy just nodded

Tommy waited for him at the back of the bus. Anton and Larry had helped pack his bags. "Hiya Romy. I saved a seat for you" Tommy said. Romy cursed under his breath as he wanted to sit with Jennifer again
